hey everyone! shaunna here :) i've been on a little unintentional hiatus for the last week or so... last week was a complete mess, from one end to the other - my birthday, V-day, computer issues... and i iced that cake with my fabulous procrastination skills so it just came out wonderfully! NOT. i learned three new things last week:
- don't wait until 3:00AM on the morning of Valentine's Day to decide to make 3D boxes with your Silhouette (or other die cutting machine) to deliver your Valentine's cookies in. especially not when you have to get up at 9:30 or earlier to get ready to have a surprise lunch with your son.
- don't wait until the week (and day) of your birthday to decide on your birthday outfit and coordinating accessories. especially not when you are going to make the accessories yourself - i ran myself down to the wire last Friday night making a custom fascinator and charm necklace, which were nowhere on the schedule until 2:00PM Friday afternoon. the fascinator was cute, the necklace, not so much :(
- apparently EA does not like Macs. but i'm not going into detail about my nerdy computer-stuff life here... you can read this post on my blog if you want to hear me rambling about the hassle i've gone through just trying to be able to play The Sims 3 on my MacBook. and i'm still struggling with it, as of yesterday... you know things are bad when the Windows Blue-Screen-of-Death shows up on your Mac...
but enough of my rambling! i am here today to share the post with you that i intended for last week, and i will be back again on another day before February is over to finish off the February kit in style!
since i unofficially made February "sketch month", i dug through my own sketches and pulled one out that i really thought would be great with this kit. i am pleased to share it with you, and hope it will inspire you to create more goodies with "Oh Penelope", or any other The Sampler Kits or stash supplies!

my initial idea for this sketch involved mustaches. but that didn't end up working out like i thought... i still think mustaches would be really cute in place of the stars, but that's going to require digging out the Silhouette and using the Echo Park mustache die cut, and i'm always too lazy to just get it out and do it. plus, i watch "How I Met Your Mother" and "Once Upon a Time" on my laptop while i scrap, so i would have to interrupt that to run my Silhouette. again, on the laziness/procrastination. i'm bad, i know. you are welcome to use this sketch to create cards (or layouts, or other projects), especially if you use The Sampler's February kit, "Oh, Penelope". just float me some karma and link back to my BLOG if you do. ;)
here are a few samples i came up with using this sketch and this month's kit, "Oh, Penelope":

the second card is really my favorite... i wish i could have gotten a picture of it standing up because the transparency with the clouds looks really sweet but our weather has either been cloudy or extremely windy so outdoor pictures have been iffy. it looks best in direct sunlight, where the shadows of the clouds fall through the transparency onto whatever is behind it! definitely something imma keep in mind for future crafting ;)
OH! and a bonus card! i was working with some stuff for another DT last night, and couldn't resist the "Oh, Penelope" sitting in its neat little pile on the corner of my table... so i grabbed it and whipped out this little cutie, in less than 20 minutes!

working on this really inspired me to get the rest of my stuff finished up! i am still so happy that The Sampler's kits go so far and have so many tempting supplies in them - i definitely could still make a TON more stuff with what i have left, after four cards and a layout! you can't beat that with a 39 1/2-foot pole!
if you're still thinking about it, now is the time to head over to Scrapbooking Supplies R Us and scoop up this kit before it's gone! the stuff in this kit is all AWESOME and would make a great addition to your stash - either as a "collection" or separately.
thanks for stopping by our blog today! i will be back before February is over with another project to inspire you and get your mojo flowing. stop back any day for more creative tips, insights and ideas from our fantastic design team as well :)
peace, love and stickers -
shaunnaRooskie :)
