hi everybody!
shaunna here, and before i start rambling i just want to say that the April kit is AWESOME! i am really having a hard time figuring out what i want to do with it - so much to work with! stop by the Scrapbooking Supplies R Us store TODAY to make sure that you get one before they're all sold out!
i kind of missed the boat on the scrap room share back in March - the organizing tips i shared barely showed you the surface of my personal craft store. now i think it's finally ready for its big internet debut - after a lot of hard work and a new addition!
taa daaaaa!
okay, it's really nothing special. and my walls need paint. and there needs to be more decoration. i'm working on all of that. i would love to have one of those huge customized storage systems with all the slots and drawers... but that doesn't really fit into the budget right now, so i make do. i still love it; it's not uber-clean but not such a mess that i don't want to sit in it. i'm a neat hoarder - i have a lot of stuff but everything has a place, and it's usually pretty tidy and in order.
another view. this area is part of our master bedroom - it's so huge that there is room for all of this PLUS a queen-sized bed, desk with computer, dresser, and a nightstand. the bedroom and closet were the big selling points for me in this house! seriously, the closet is so big it could be a bedroom!
this situation is a completely upcycled piece of garbage. literally. a friend of mine was throwing away the wooden part - it's one of those things you would buy for your kids' room to put bins with toys on - but it was all broken up and in the garbage. after a 15 minute ordeal of trying to figure out how to shove it into my car, i hauled it home, spray painted it black, and wrapped colored duct tape around the remaining bars (even the broken ones!)... and so it serves its purpose. i like it A LOT better than the 70's wall shelves i used to have that collapsed on me once while i was sitting at my craft table...
most of the boxes and baskets came from the Dollar Tree - which was awesome because i spent about $40 getting some pretty cute stuff to organize with. i used some old stickers on these ones, and i really need to do that with the rest of them. also the white shelves are like $16 at Wal-Mart... they are really handy and it sort of gives my stuff a little bit of a coordinated look ;)
THIS is the part that kept me from posting this whole time - back in March i had started on this project and it went to the side because i didn't know how to stick the letters onto the wall the way i wanted them. i wanted them to be 3D, but like they had foam squares behind them... why not just use big foam squares? well A) foam sheets are actually fairly expensive when you have to buy them; B) the only way i could come up with to put it on the wall was hot gluing it, which my better judgment led me against. the magic here is all in old Priority Mail boxes - every single bit of it. i cut out the clouds & letters on plain paper with my Silhouette, traced them onto the cardboard and painted them. the backing is the real magic, though! i cut the box scraps into 1" x 3.25" pieces and scored them at 1", 1 1/2", 2 1/2" and 3" and then folded them up to make little hollow "boxes" that i hot glued together and then to the backs of the shapes. to put them on the wall i used flat tacks, inside the hollow of the box and through the cardboard into the wall. i had actually broken out in a sweat by the time it was all said and done, but it looks so cool!
allright... it's about time i quit yammering and share!

i have a few more laid out on my work table, and will share when i'm finished :D
that's all for me for today! we'll have this month's card and sketch challenges up soon, as well as winners for last month's challenges. please stop back and see us each day for more creative ideas from our team!
peace, love and stickers -
